SUMMARY:
Yard personnel service the customers’ needs from our yard which entails the loading of material onto or into the company or customer vehicles. In addition, a secondary responsibility for yard personnel is landscaping and building maintenance of Sepulveda locations. Each yard person is the voice of the company when they are meeting customers, so their ability to communicate and relate to others is quite important. Hours and days of work may change depending on the needs of the customers and their assigned starting times.
A yard person for Sepulveda Building Materials is responsible for delivering a wide range of masonry supplies to and from specified vehicles while driving many types of equipment, i.e.; forklifts, skip loaders, and small trucks. Also they operate the yard sweeper. More specifically, the following duties are listed, but not limited to the following (a yard person will do whatever is asked of him by his supervisor):
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. After arriving at the yard, the yard person checks in and reviews the scheduled work for the day.
2. Per company policy, the yard person inspects his equipment which includes fluid levels, tires, gauges, lights, etc. Fifteen minutes is allotted for this inspection each day.
3. Yard person assists other material loaders in the yard as needed.
4. Assists with inventory when that function is being conducted.
5. Completes essential credit receipt paperwork.
6. Sweeps yard manually.
7. Cleans bathrooms, windows, floors, batch plant and trailers, and company vehicles. This would entail using cleaning solutions.
8. Carries boxes/supplies up and down stairs for office personnel.
9. Assembles barbecues, wheelbarrows, saws.
10. Performs minor mechanical work on forklifts.
11. Fixes sprinklers, changes light bulbs, changes air filters, paints (when necessary).
12. Gardening work which includes cutting the grass, trimming the trees and raking leaves.
13. Bends steel with the bender and cutter. Uses torch for cutting steel.
14. Shovels sand and gravel.
15. Makes sand and gravel bags by hand with shovel.
16. Checks stock.
17. Loads and unloads company and customer vehicles.
18. Yard person loads and unloads the firewood trucks:
a. Stacks and palletizes the firewood.
b. Pulls the net around the firewood pallets.
19. Yard person loads and stacks brick, block, cement, railroad ties, stepping stones, car stops, firewood, pallets, five (5) gallon containers, storage boxes, pipe, steel, and any other product sold by Sepulveda.

High School or equivalent

1 year forklift/ front loader experience preferred but not required
