POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Pharmacy Clerk & Delivery Specialist is a valued member of the Pharmacy Department responsible for coordinating the timely and accurate delivery of medications both within the pharmacy and to patients’ homes. This role handles all daily activities related to medication delivery, ensuring processes are efficient, secure and compliant, including the handling of payments.
In addition to delivery duties, the Pharmacy Clerk & Delivery Specialist support the organization and upkeep of Over-The-Counter (OTC) inventory and operations within the pharmacy.
This position is part-time and operated on a PRN (as needed) basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate and execute timely, accurate delivery of prescription medications to patients’ homes and designated locations.
- Verify delivery information, patient details and required documentation prior to delivery.
- Communicate with pharmacists, technicians, and patients regarding delivery status, delays or special requirements.
- Maintain delivery logs, tracking records and proof of delivery in compliance with HealthWorks standards.
- Safely transport medications while maintaining confidentiality and security of patient information (HIPAA compliance).
- Collect and process payments for prescriptions and OTC purchases using approved systems.
- Maintaining, stocking and organizing OTC inventory.
- Provide courteous and professional service to patients and customers.
- Maintain flexibility and availability to work on as-needed (PRN) basis.
JOB REQUIREMENTS / EXPERIENCE:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Skill in customer service with ability to deal effectively with difficult people
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision with strong initiative, judgment and problem-solving skills; highly effective at planning, organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks with attention to detail, while contribution in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to perform basic mathematical operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams
Experience: One or more years of work-related driving experience, along with at least one year of customer service and cash-handling experience. Relevant experience as a pharmacy clerk or delivery driver is preferred
Contact with Other: Maintain successful communication and work cooperatively with pharmacy, medical, and administrative staff. Interact daily with patients, their families and caregivers in a professional, compassionate manner. Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of low-income and medically underserved population and provide service that fulfills the patient’s need regardless of personal bias.
Licenses / Certifications: Unrestricted driver’s license and clean driving record required
- Minimum of 18 Years of Age Required
- Bilingual skills are a plus
Pay: $16.50 per hour
