Job Summary
The KIA After School Inclusion Teacher will work with After School Teachers to provide a safe, nurturing environment with enriching, developmentally appropriate activities that provide opportunities for recreation, social development and create exploration for children and will provide students with Social Emotional Learning and Behavioral Support in group settings and in individual settings as needed.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children. Be alert to the needs of the children as individuals and as a group.
- Work with children needing support to be successful at Kids In Action. May include 1:1 support.
- Assist children to engage in activities and promote positive interactions with others.
- Participate in program activities and maintain enthusiasm as an example for the children.
- Intervene in potential conflicts using appropriate de-escalation techniques.
- Maintain open-communication and positive working relationships with coworkers
- Participate in ten hours of Professional Development, related to Early Childhood Development and Curriculum.
- Complete ten hours of EEC StrongStart Professional Development.
- Complete First Aid and CPR training annually.
- Attend monthly Team Curriculum Planning and Staff Meetings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education or a related field
- Safety Care Certified
- Experience working with Special Education Students
- Experience working with children needing support in SEL
- Familiar with the MA Early Education & Care (EEC) regulations
- Clear all HPS and EEC background checks
Required Skills & Abilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Commitment to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Physically able to lift items up to 20lbs
