Victim Advocate
Job Summary
The Victim Advocate provides direct support to individuals navigating some of the most difficult moments of their lives. This role is responsible for crisis response, advocacy, and connecting clients to resources while ensuring they are heard, respected, and supported.
The position also manages the agency’s 24-hour crisis line, works with walk-in clients, and collaborates with community partners. In addition, the advocate supervises and supports volunteer advocates, helps maintain program data and reports, and contributes to outreach and education efforts.
This role requires the ability to remain calm under pressure, communicate effectively, and balance compassion with structure in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of victim issues
- Serve as community liaison to community committees, agencies, and task forces as appropriate
- Assist in the development of agency materials and brochures
- Maintain procedure for program evaluations
- Maintain program information for use in reports
- Act as an advocate, working with clients and accepting on-call duties as needed
- Serve walk-in clients on an as needed basis
- Recruit and screen potential volunteer victim advocates (VVA)
- Facilitate Support Groups
- Assist with Domestic Violence Victims (DVV)
- Create and maintain DV spreadsheet
- Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Director
PERSONNEL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Host Multi-disciplinary teem meeting monthly
- Maintain all DVPO Guide and File records
- Attend monthly DV Task Force meetings
Qualifications
- Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in human services field or related field
- Have a working knowledge of crisis intervention theory and practice
- Experience or ability to train and educate agency volunteers
- Ability to work with a diverse population
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Experience with a volunteer agency
- Demonstrated supervisory skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Team player

Pay: $40,000.00 - $46,000.00 per year
