Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist to join our advanced medical imaging team. The ideal candidate will operate sophisticated radiologic imaging equipment to produce detailed cross-sectional images of patients' internal anatomy, primarily utilizing computed tomography technology. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care, radiation safety, and technical excellence, supporting diagnostic evaluations across diverse clinical settings including emergency rooms, urgent care, and trauma centers. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver precise imaging services that facilitate accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
Duties
- Operate CT scanners and related radiologic imaging equipment to acquire high-quality images for diagnostic purposes, ensuring adherence to established protocols and safety standards.
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process, positioning them correctly, and ensuring their comfort throughout the examination.
- Implement radiation safety procedures diligently to protect patients, staff, and oneself from unnecessary exposure during all imaging activities.
- Perform specialized imaging procedures including PET scans, interventional radiography, fluoroscopy, mammography, DEXA scans for bone density assessment, and nuclear medicine studies.
- Assist in emergent situations by providing rapid diagnostic imaging in emergency room settings or Level I trauma centers with experience in Level II trauma environments.
- Maintain accurate documentation of procedures performed, patient information, and technical parameters in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with physicians and radiologists to ensure optimal image quality for diagnostic evaluation while adhering to aseptic techniques during invasive procedures.
- Stay current with advancements in radiologic technology and participate in ongoing training related to physiology knowledge, medical terminology, and radiation safety protocols.
- Support the implementation of quality assurance measures to ensure consistent performance of radiologic equipment and compliance with safety standards.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary teams providing urgent care, emergency medicine services, or specialized diagnostic evaluations requiring expertise in radiology.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT or equivalent), with additional credentials in CT (such as ARRT CT certification) preferred.
- Proven experience operating radiologic imaging equipment including CT scanners, fluoroscopy units, mammography devices, DEXA scanners, and nuclear medicine systems.
- Prior experience working in emergency room settings or Level I/II trauma centers highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic radiology principles essential for accurate image acquisition.
- Familiarity with interventional radiology procedures and aseptic techniques for invasive imaging interventions.
- Strong understanding of radiation safety procedures and implementing radiation protection protocols effectively.
- Ability to perform complex diagnostic evaluations involving multiple modalities such as PET scans or interventional radiography.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately across diverse populations.
- Demonstrated proficiency in medical imaging software and radiologic equipment operation.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts including nights or weekends as required by clinical demands.
