About the Role
The Lead Music Instructor & Curriculum Coordinator is a hands-on leadership position that combines exceptional teaching with teacher development, curriculum innovation, and relationship management.
This is not a desk job.
You'll spend your time teaching engaging music classes at client locations, mentoring fellow instructors, developing curriculum, visiting school partners, and helping ensure every Play Patrol music program delivers an outstanding experience for children, teachers, and clients.
What You'll Do
Teach Exceptional Music Classes
- Lead engaging music classes for preschool and elementary-aged children.
- Inspire a lifelong love of music through interactive, high-energy lessons.
- Deliver Play Patrol's curriculum with consistency, enthusiasm, and professionalism.
- Represent Play Patrol with excellence in every school and community setting.
Mentor & Support Teachers
- Coach, mentor, and encourage music instructors to reach their full potential.
- Observe classrooms and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback.
- Assist with onboarding and training new instructors.
- Promote consistent teaching quality across all Play Patrol music programs.
Develop Curriculum
- Collaborate on creating and improving lesson plans, activities, and instructional materials.
- Help keep curriculum fresh, engaging, and developmentally appropriate.
- Contribute creative ideas that enhance the student experience.
- Ensure consistency across multiple instructors and locations.
Build Strong Client Relationships
- Develop positive relationships with school administrators and program directors.
- Conduct school visits to ensure program quality and client satisfaction.
- Address questions and concerns with professionalism and responsiveness.
- Help strengthen long-term partnerships with our schools and community organizations.
What We're Looking For
Applicants must demonstrate:
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency on guitar and/or ukulele.
- The ability to accompany singing fluently in multiple keys.
- Confidence playing a variety of common chord progressions without relying heavily on chord charts.
- Strong rhythm, musicianship, and vocal ability suitable for leading children's music classes.
- The ability to quickly learn and perform Play Patrol's repertoire.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience teaching music to preschool and/or elementary-aged children.
- Is an engaging and confident classroom leader.
- Enjoys mentoring and supporting fellow educators.
- Communicates professionally with clients, teachers, and families.
- Is highly organized, dependable, and self-motivated.
- Thrives both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Has reliable transportation and is comfortable traveling throughout the Greater Philadelphia region.
A degree in Music Education or a related field is preferred but not required for candidates with equivalent experience.

Interview Process
Final candidates will be asked to demonstrate both their musicianship and teaching ability during the interview process. This includes performing children's songs and leading a brief sample lesson.
