Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate, creative, and dedicated Program Director to oversee day-to-day operations for our after-school programs, located in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens. Our approach is unorthodox and our commitment is real, we're looking for dedicated, perfectionist change-makers to join our team. The Program Director must be patient, compassionate, proactive, organized, creative, resourceful, and a good judge of character, wearing many hats: educator, manager, counselor, mediator, administrator, ambassador, problem solver, negotiator, coach, and nurse. He or she must have a "do or die" mentality, be a credible authority at the program, and skillfully manage relationships with program staff, students, parents, custodians, and school administration, as well as representatives of DYCD, DOH, and OCFS. He or she must find joy in helping middle school students through the challenges of early adolescence and be able to earn their trust and respect.
Responsibilities:

Oversee day-to-day program operations
- Supervise line staff
- Organize special events
- Liaise among parents, students, and school staff
- Hire staff who relate well to students
- Design activities that are developmentally appropriate for middle school students of all levels
- Recruit and retain students, which is essential to success in this role
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with transcripts specifying 18 credits of Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field
- OR SACC Credential or other Office-recognized credential specific to the school-age development period
- OR NYS Children's Program Administrator credential
- OR Associate degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field
- — AND, coupled with any of the above, two years of direct experience working with children under the age of 13, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a childcare-related field, reflected on resume
- Former Program Directors who have operated and obtained a New York State Office of Children and Family Services School-Age Child Care Registration (verification required)
- OCFS-approved certification in CPR & First Aid (verification required)
- Excellent execution, follow-up, and follow-through skills
- Capable of leading young people and managing a team of creatives
- Passionate, resilient, and optimistic, with a desire to change the world and impart experience and guidance onto the lives of our children's futures
- 1–2 years of experience working with the special needs population preferred
- Supervising experience: 2–3 years preferred
- Childcare experience: 2 years preferred
- Willingness to travel
Pay: $22.00 per hour
