We're not looking for a paralegal who stumbled into office management. We're looking for a builder, a people leader, and a true business operator.
Volpe Law LLC is a growing commercial litigation and business law firm based in Denver, Colorado. We handle complex construction disputes, real estate litigation, business conflicts, and transactional work for clients who expect results. The firm is expanding — into new markets, new service lines, and a larger team — and the owner needs a right hand.
That's where you come in.
THE ROLE
This is not a glorified admin position. This is an operational leadership role. You will run the day-to-day business of the firm so the managing attorney can focus on business development, client relationships, and high-level strategy. You will own operations, HR, finance, and internal systems — and you will be expected to improve all of them.
You report directly to the owner. You will have real authority and real accountability.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- Day-to-day firm operations — keep everything moving, nothing falling through the cracks
- HR functions — hiring, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations
- Financial oversight — billing, collections, budgeting, and compensation plan administration
- Staff leadership — manage and develop a team of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff
- Client experience and intake process — ensure the firm delivers at every touchpoint
- Marketing and business development support — own the systems that feed the pipeline
- Vendor and systems management — CRM, practice management, tech stack, external relationships
- Building and scaling — identify what's broken, fix it, and build for growth
WHO YOU ARE
- You've led people before and they actually followed you — not because of a title, but because you showed up, did the work, and earned it.
- You're an operator at heart. You like systems, structure, and efficiency. You can hold multiple moving parts in your head at once and still execute with precision.
- You're not looking to be the star. You're the person who makes the star more effective. You get satisfaction from building something that runs well — and pride when it does.
- You're comfortable with ambiguity and thrive in a fast-moving, high-expectation environment. You bring solutions, not problems.
- You doggedly obsess over details. You strive for excellence in your personal life and hold yourself to high standards.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 5+ years in an operational leadership role — law firm experience preferred, but not required
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop staff across multiple functions
- Strong financial acumen — budgeting, P&L awareness, compensation structures
- HR competency — you know how to hire, coach, and when necessary, make hard calls
- Experience with CRM, practice management, or similar business systems
- High organizational capacity — you don't miss details and you don't miss deadlines
- Entrepreneurial mindset — you see opportunity and you move toward it
- Loyalty, discretion, and professionalism — this role carries real trust
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
- Performance-based bonus tied to firm revenue and operational metrics. The better we do, the better you are compensated.
- Direct access to firm ownership and real decision-making authority
- A firm that is growing — and a role that grows with it
- Autonomy to build, improve, and lead — not just maintain
If you've spent your career making organizations run better and you're ready to put that to work in a high-growth professional services environment — we want to hear from you.
Apply with your resume and a brief note (not an AI letter) telling us what kind of organization you've helped build, how you did it, why you're a fit for this role, and what drives you to want to work here. Write as if you are speaking to me over coffee. Do not regurgitate your resume in paragraph form like they taught you in college. I won't read it. Just be yourself.
