Job Overview
The afternoon classroom teachers support and assist classroom lead teachers and the director by helping to create a safe, caring, nurturing, supportive and assists in carrying out daily afternoon classroom activities to improve the overall care of children and the quality of children's education. Afternoon classroom teachers must develop positive and caring relationships with children and their families, observe and document children's interests and progress and relay this information back to families and staff. Afternoon classroom staff are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities using a variety of classroom materials based on the children's interests and needs under the direction of the lead teacher and director. Afternoon classroom staff are responsible for closing the center and cleaning classrooms at the end of the night.
Responsibilities
- Lead by example; encouraging the teaching team's success through modeling and coaching
- Maintaining frequent communication with families through informal discussions
- Ensuring all center policies and state regulations are met at all times
- Ensuring a healthy and organized classroom environment by maintaining appropriate hygiene practices and cleanliness standards as well as maintaining the safety and security of all children
- Supervising children to ensure they are following and engaging in structured activities and all hygiene and safety standards
- Maintaining accurate records, forms and files
- Maintaining personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement
- Closing the center, cleaning a classroom and restocking supplies
