BIM & Design Technology Manager
Davis, Carter, Scott, Ltd. (DCS) | Tysons, Virginia | www.dcsdesign.com
Who We Are
DCS is a full-service masterplanning, architecture, and interior architecture firm serving top-tier local and national clients for over 55 years. We are currently seeking a forward-thinking BIM (Revit) and Design Technology Manager to join our multi-disciplinary team and lead our digital design evolution.
The Role
This is a multifaceted leadership position focused on the technical support and advancement of our digital design systems. You will do more than manage models; you will inherit a robust suite of custom-built Revit tools/automations and be tasked with maintaining and expanding them. We are looking for a tech-savvy "go-getter" to drive automation, integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into our workflows, and constructively challenge the status quo to optimize how we design.
What You'll Do
- Innovate & Automate: Maintain, develop, and deploy custom Revit tools, plugins, and scripts (e.g., Dynamo, C#, Python) while integrating emerging AI technologies into our daily workflows.
- Drive BIM Strategy: Oversee project startups, co-author BIM Execution Plans for major projects, and advise management on optimal staff allocation based on skill sets.
- Lead & Mentor: Direct regular Revit Roundtables, assess staff abilities, and provide targeted training and mentorship to elevate the team's technical capabilities.
- Manage Standards: Spearhead the development of our company template and procedures documentation (written & video), oversee 2D/3D family creation, and enforce firm-wide execution standards.
- Ensure Quality: Perform rigorous QA/QC checks on models, assist with consultant coordination, and provide deadline-specific model management.
What You Bring
- Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture with 5–7 years of AEC industry experience, including at least 5 years managing complex, project-specific BIM workflows (Office, Mixed-use, and Residential).
- Technical Mastery: Expert knowledge of Autodesk Revit Architecture, AutoCAD, and related BIM software. Proven ability in workflow set up and management utilizing Autodesk Construction Cloud. Experience with automating tasks utilizing custom programming (Revit API, Dynamo, Python, or C#) and familiarity with AI-driven, generative design.
- Leadership: An articulate communicator with strong interpersonal and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex concepts to all levels of design staff and leadership.
- Drive: An analytical problem solver with a strong work ethic, punctuality, and a passion for research and development.
- Bonus Skills: Architectural license, LEED experience, and familiarity with Sketch-Up, Adobe Creative Suite and multiple AI models.
