Position Summary
SunnySands Manor is seeking compassionate, dependable, and attentive 1:1 Patient Sitters to join our team. The 1:1 Patient Sitter plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of residents who require continuous observation. This position is responsible for providing constant supervision, promoting a safe and supportive environment, observing and reporting changes in condition, and treating all residents with dignity, respect, and compassion.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide continuous 1:1 observation and supervision of an assigned resident.
- Ensure the resident's safety at all times and intervene appropriately to prevent injury or unsafe behaviors.
- Observe and promptly report changes in the resident's physical, emotional, or behavioral condition to the licensed nurse.
- Assist with non-clinical resident needs as directed by the nursing staff.
- Provide companionship and reassurance while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Assist with meals, hydration, and other basic needs as directed.
- Maintain a calm, safe, and supportive environment for the resident.
- Follow resident care plans, facility policies, and instructions from licensed nursing staff.
- Accurately document observations and required information according to facility procedures.
- Adhere to resident rights, confidentiality, infection control practices, and all safety protocols.
- Maintain effective communication with nursing staff and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous healthcare, caregiving, patient sitter, behavioral health, or direct care experience preferred.
- Compassionate, patient, and attentive with excellent observation skills.
- Ability to remain alert and focused throughout the assigned shift.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while following direction from licensed staff.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to maintain resident confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- CPR and First Aid Certification preferred or willingness to obtain after hire.
- Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment requirements.
- Must be physically able to stand, walk, and respond quickly to resident needs throughout the shift.
