Summary
This is a part time, service-heavy role in a busy wine shop and bar. We’re looking for someone who already has a genuine interest in wine and wants to work with it day to day. Most shifts involve a mix of customer service, retail, and wine service happening at the same time.
About Us
Hyde Park Fine Wines is a locally owned wine shop and bar in Boise’s North End. We offer a curated selection of wines by the bottle and glass, rotating tastings, and approachable, knowledgeable service. We're looking for someone to join our small team and help us deliver a great wine experience—whether that means pouring a flight, helping a guest choose the perfect bottle, or sharing insights about this month’s wine club selections.
About the Role
We’re hiring a part-time Wine Bar Server to support daily service in the shop. This is a hands-on, fast-moving role focused on taking care of guests—pouring wine, running the patio, handling transactions, and keeping things clean and organized behind the scenes.
You’ll be part of a small team, so the job naturally includes a bit of everything. The priority is strong, steady service and helping the day run smoothly. You don’t need to be a wine expert, but you should already have a real interest in wine and be comfortable talking about it in a straightforward, unpretentious way.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve customers in the wine shop and bar
- Pour wine by the glass, flight, and frozen service
- Distribute monthly wine club allocations and walk members through their selections
- Assist guests with bottle selections and purchases
- Process sales through Square POS
- Wash and polish glassware
- Restock shelves, clean service areas, and support team as needed
What We're Looking For
- Prior hospitality experience (bar, restaurant, tasting room, café, etc.)
- Genuine, existing interest in wine (You don’t need deep knowledge, but you should already be engaged enough to talk about it with customers)
- Friendly, professional demeanor and good communication skills
- Comfort talking to customers and making recommendations
- Must be at least 19 years old (per Idaho law)
- Must have valid alcohol server certification (e.g., TIPS) by start date
- Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs
Bonus Points For
- Familiarity with basic wine styles and service practices
- Retail experience, especially in wine or specialty food
- Experience with Square or other POS systems
