Design Principal – Sales
Position Summary
The Design Principal – Sales is a client-facing role responsible for driving high-value residential landscape projects from concept through signed contract. This individual sets the tone for design excellence, builds trust with premium clients, and guides projects through an elevated sales experience rooted in creativity, technical understanding, and relationship-building.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead client consultations to understand vision, lifestyle needs, and budget expectations for luxury outdoor living projects
- Develop and present compelling design concepts, sketches, and proposals that align with both aesthetics and feasibility
- Drive the full sales cycle from initial inquiry through closing high-value design-build contracts
- Serve as the primary relationship owner for assigned clients throughout the design and pre-construction phases
- Collaborate closely with estimators, project managers, and production teams to ensure design intent is maintained through execution
- Translate complex site conditions, construction methods, and materials into clear, client-friendly presentations
- Maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities and consistently meet or exceed sales targets
- Guide clients through material selections, scope adjustments, and budget alignment decisions
- Represent the company at client meetings, site visits, and industry or networking events as needed
- Continuously elevate design standards and contribute to the creative direction of the sales/design team
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in landscape architecture sales, construction sales, or high-end residential design-build environments
- Proven success in closing large-scale, high-value residential projects
- Strong portfolio demonstrating design sensibility and technical understanding of outdoor construction
- Deep understanding of construction processes, materials, and site development
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple high-touch client relationships simultaneously
- Proficiency in Aspire, or other CRM platforms, and presentation tools
