ZOFS Engineering & Land Surveying, P.C. is seeking qualified Civil Inspectors to support construction safety oversight for facilities throughout Elizabeth, NJ.
Construction Management, Inspection, and Closeout Services for structural, civil, electrical, and mechanical construction projects associated with the Tenant Construction and Application Program (TCAP). Services include providing construction oversight, field inspection, technical coordination, quality assurance, and administrative support to ensure tenant projects are completed in accordance with approved plans and specifications, applicable permits and codes, safety requirements, and Port standards.
Responsibilities:
- Perform construction inspection activities throughout all phases of the project.
- Prepare daily narratives, special inspection reports, time-and-material records, and unit price documentation.
- Identify potential extra work issues and notify the Resident Engineer/Assistant Resident Engineer.
- Prepare extra work estimates and supporting documentation.
- Review plans for constructability and provide comments.
- Review contractor payment requests and recommend reasonableness.
- Coordinate inspections at multiple work locations.
- Perform quality assurance inspections of completed work.
- Verify compliance with safety requirements.
- Coordinate work activities, closures, and utility shutdowns with Operations and Maintenance staff.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience inspecting construction work varying in size (projects ranging from $500K to $5M+) and complexity (multiple crews and crew sizes per shift).
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Must be able to successfully obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), badge, including passing all required security threat assessments, fingerprint-based criminal history records checks, and background investigations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience preparing daily reports, inspection reports, and contract documentation.
- Experience reviewing contractor payment applications and documenting extra work.
- Ability to coordinate with contractors, Resident Engineers, and facility personnel.
- Working knowledge of construction safety requirements.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Willing to work weekends and night shifts when required.
