Lead Mechanic
Primary job duties include coordinating and managing all repairs, parts, and inventory for a fleet of heavy equipment, trucks, and pickups. The job will include leading a small team in a fast-paced construction company.
Role
- Collaborate with Project Managers to create repair schedules and manage flow of repairs.
- Create work orders and perform repair services.
- Coordinate and perform routine maintenance and monitor schedule.
- Lead a small team to keep equipment running and ready for work.
- Mentor, coach and motivate teammates to develop their technical skills.
- Ensure the team maintains a safe and clean work environment.
- Help develop supplier relationships and negotiate pricing and support.
Critical to success
- 3-5 Years of Automotive / Diesel Mechanic experience.
- Ability to multitask and continually prioritize a changing workload.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Superior communication skills – including listening speaking/writing.
- Possess or have the ability to get a commercial driver’s license.
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to problem solve independently.
- Ability to build or acquire knowledge to improve or develop skills.
- Work well under pressure to meet deadlines and effectively deal with difficult situations and or people.
- Negotiate and prioritize tasks daily from a variety of individuals.
- Basic Computer Skills
- Ability to Lift 75+ lbs.
- Own mechanics tool set
Skills to enhance success
- Service Writer experience in the Tire/Parts/Service industry or related area.
- DOT Inspector Certification a plus.
- ASE certification
- 2+ year technical school
- Welding/metal fabrication
