Sales Engineer – Enry Level Job Description
An entry-level Sales Engineer in the cable manufacturing industry bridges the gap between engineering and commercial teams. They support sales executives by translating complex technical wire and cable specifications into actionable business solutions, and ensuring customer requirements are met. As an entry-level Sales Engineer, you will focus on mastering the technical and performance of Control Cable’s wire and cable product lines. You will work under the mentorship of senior sales staff create detailed material information and cabling solutions to clients in industries like telecommunications, construction, aerospace, and energy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.
· Estimate labor and material cost of manufactured items
· Interact with sales and department to meet customer demands
· Collaborate with clients to assess their infrastructure needs (e.g., bandwidth limits, voltage, environmental resistance) and assist in designing cable configurations to meet those specifications.
· Answer client questions about technical product features, installation, and performance limitations.
· Help customers resolve technical problems related to installed cabling and recommend upgraded materials to improve performance.
· Act as the voice of the customer by sharing market needs and client feedback with manufacturing teams.
· Work with the manufacturing and purchasing teams to calculate the costs of custom cables and production timelines.
The Ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
- In depth knowledge of and experience in electronic cable manufacturing techniques, including tooling, crimp requirements, tubing and sleeving, labeling, soldering, connector types and assembly processes
- Ability to interpret assembly drawings and schematics in many different customer formats
Education and/or Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Distribution, or a related technical field.
· Strong technical aptitude combined with excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills. Familiarity with wire diagrams, schematics, and industry standards (e.g., UL, NEC, IPC) is highly desirable.
· This is an ideal position for candidates with an engineering background who want to transition into a fast-paced, client-facing role.
Reports To: Director of Engineering
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general customer requests for product, pricing, or service. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Fluency in English is required and bilingual in Spanish or Russian is a plus.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to convert metric measurements to English. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Manufacturing software; Internet software; Inventory software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
