Position Summary
At Canine Country Club, our Pet Care Technicians are the heart of our operation. This role is responsible for providing exceptional care, safety, and enrichment for every dog in our facility while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, professionalism, and customer service.
As a Pet Care Technician, you will supervise daycare playgroups, care for boarding guests, assist with grooming services, maintain a clean and safe facility, and monitor each dog's physical and emotional well-being. Successful team members are dependable, compassionate, energetic, and committed to creating a safe, fun, and stress-free experience for every pet.
Essential ResponsibilitiesDog Handling & Group Supervision
- Supervise daycare playgroups while maintaining a maximum 15:1 dog-to-handler ratio.
- Monitor canine body language and recognize signs of stress, fear, overstimulation, illness, or aggression.
- Redirect inappropriate behaviors using approved handling techniques.
- Safely interrupt dog altercations by following established safety protocols and tiered response procedures.
- Escort VIP and individual-care dogs safely throughout the facility.
- Promote positive social interactions while ensuring every dog's safety and well-being.
- Follow all facility safety procedures and animal handling protocols at all times.
Boarding & Daily Pet Care
- Feed dogs according to individualized feeding instructions and dietary requirements.
- Monitor food and water intake, documenting concerns and notifying management when necessary.
- Observe dogs for signs of illness, injury, or behavioral changes and report concerns immediately.
- Provide individualized attention and enrichment activities to promote emotional well-being.
Kennel & Facility Maintenance
- Prepare boarding accommodations for arrivals and departures.
- Clean, disinfect, and sanitize kennels, crates, runs, play yards, bowls, toys, and common areas according to company protocols.
- Complete routine facility walkthroughs to ensure cleanliness and safety.
- Maintain laundry, waste disposal, cleaning equipment, and chemical storage according to company standards.
- Assist in maintaining a welcoming, odor-free, and organized environment for pets and guests.
Grooming Support
- Assist with bathing, deshedding, nail dremeling, ear cleaning, and teeth brushing.
- Safely restrain and handle dogs during grooming procedures, including proper muzzle use when necessary.
- Clean and sanitize grooming equipment and maintain an organized grooming workspace.
Communication & Documentation
- Communicate professionally and effectively with team members and pet owners.
- Respond appropriately to facility radio communication and operational procedures.
- Maintain accurate records regarding feeding, medications, behavior, health observations, and daily activities.
Qualifications
- Genuine passion for dogs and commitment to providing exceptional animal care.
- Previous experience in dog daycare, boarding, veterinary, kennel, or grooming environments preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of canine behavior and body language or willingness to learn through training.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining a calm, positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, temperaments, and energy levels.
- CPR and Pet First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, stoop, and lift throughout the workday.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Comfortable working in environments with pet hair, cleaning chemicals, noise, and pet-related allergens.
Work Environment
This position requires working in an active, fast-paced dog daycare and boarding environment. Team members should be comfortable around barking dogs, frequent cleaning, changing priorities, and physically active work. Weekend, holiday, and flexible scheduling availability is required to meet the needs of our guests.
