Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic 6th Grade English Language Arts Teacher to inspire and empower students in their literacy journey. In this role, you will design engaging curriculum, foster a love for reading and writing, and cultivate critical thinking skills among middle school learners. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards for English Language Arts at the 6th-grade level.
- Incorporate diverse teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles and ensure student engagement.
- Utilize educational technology tools to create interactive lessons that promote active learning and digital literacy.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, providing timely feedback to support growth.
- Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages respectful behavior, collaboration, and creativity.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers on interdisciplinary projects, curriculum planning, and school initiatives.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student achievements, challenges, and ongoing support strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and behavioral reports in compliance with school policies.
- Support students’ social-emotional development through mentoring and behavior management techniques.
- Stay current with educational research, standards such as the Chicago Manual of Style (used for editing), and best practices in literacy education.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications preferred.
- Valid teaching certification/license for middle school education or equivalent credentials.
- Proven experience teaching English Language Arts at the middle or high school level with a focus on literacy development.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, AP style guidelines, copy editing, proofreading, and instructional design.
- Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and assessment strategies for literacy skills.
- Experience integrating learning technology and implementing IT-enabled lessons in the classroom.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues and parent engagement.
- Ability to adapt instruction to diverse learning styles and special education needs when applicable.
- Demonstrated classroom management skills that foster an inclusive, respectful learning environment.
- Knowledge of social sciences content areas relevant to interdisciplinary teaching approaches.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
