Summary
Custodial Worker 2 perform heavy manual work involving a variety of housekeeping tasks to assist in the maintenance of a variety of buildings. Duties include operating various types of automatic housekeeping equipment, cleaning restrooms and offices, removing trash, washing windows, vacuuming carpets and mopping floors. Incumbents are responsible for the use of proper methods and materials in cleaning and in caring for buildings and equipment.
Responsibilities
Operates automatic housekeeping equipment for floor cleaning including, buffing and carpet shampoo machines and other equipment, scrubs, strips and waxes floors, shampoos carpets and pressure cleaning machine. Operates wall washing equipment, cleans walls, curtains, drapes and vertical blinds, using ladders as necessary. Performs routine daily cleaning of offices, restrooms, occupied patient rooms and required intensive cleaning of unoccupied patient rooms for further occupancy as assigned; mops floors, dust, clean and polishes furniture; washes woodwork, sanitize bathroom, etc. Empties, sanitizes and re-lines trash containers, soiled linens, recycled materials and biomedical receptacles. Sanitize all outside surfaces (e.g., pantry, nurses station and utility rooms). Cleans and disinfects residents wheelchairs, shower chairs and Geri-chairs. Serves as driver for rental trucks and/or other vehicles in any emergency situations. Loading and unloading trucks in emergency situations. Assures that established infection control and universal precaution practices are maintained. Wear appropriate protective clothing/device when performing tasks that require handling infectious waste and blood/body fluids. Moving of equipment and furniture throughout the facility including, but not limited to: office equipment and furniture; resident equipment and furniture; tables; chairs; medical equipment and nutrition service equipment. Accountable for fulfilling responsibilities in accordance with the JHS/PHT/JMPMC Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan and for responding, as assigned, to any and all emergencies or disasters, either internal or external. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
Experience
Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.
Education
High School diploma is strongly preferred.
Skill
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.

Working Conditions
Physical Requirements - Job functions requires extended walking or standing. Must be able to climb stairs/ladder, stoop, bend, crawl and perform repetitive motions as needed. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. Must be able to lift , push or pull objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices. Function requires visual acuity to perform job related activities such as: operating machines or motor vehicles and performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a repetitive and non-repetitive nature.
