Position Summary
The General Manager in Training (GMIT) is a leadership development role designed to prepare future General Managers for successful restaurant operations within Le Botaniste. Through a structured training program, the GMIT will gain hands-on experience in all aspects of restaurant management, including operations, team leadership, financial performance, guest experience, food safety, compliance, and people development.
Working alongside Leadership, General Managers and team, the GMIT will learn to lead high-performing teams while driving operational excellence and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
The General Manager in Training must demonstrate flexibility, mobility, and operational adaptability by supporting multiple Le Botaniste locations as business needs require.
What You'll D: Leadership & Team Development
- Lead by example and foster a positive, inclusive, and performance-driven culture.
- Coach, develop, and motivate team members to achieve operational and service excellence.
- Support recruiting, interviewing, and training of new employees.
- Learn and apply performance management and employee development practices.
- Serve as Manager on Duty as training milestones are achieved.
Restaurant Operations
- Learn and execute all front-of-house and back-of-house operational procedures.
- Ensure adherence to company standards for food quality, cleanliness, hospitality, and operational execution.
- Assist with scheduling, labor management, inventory control, ordering, and receiving.
- Support opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and daily operational routines.
- Maintain restaurant readiness and operational excellence during all shifts.
Guest Experience
- Deliver exceptional hospitality and create memorable guest experiences.
- Address guest concerns professionally and effectively.
- Promote Le Botaniste's mission, products, and values through every guest interaction.
- Identify opportunities to improve service standards and guest satisfaction.
Financial Performance
- Learn and understand restaurant financial metrics, including sales, labor costs, food costs, controllable expenses, and profitability.
- Assist in analyzing business results and implementing action plans to improve performance.
- Support initiatives that drive sales growth, operational efficiencies, and profitability.
- Participate in local store marketing and community engagement efforts.
Compliance & Food Safety
- Ensure compliance with all health department regulations and food safety standards.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work environment.
- Support restaurant audits and implementation of corrective action plans.
- Adhere to all company policies, labor laws, and workplace regulations.
Training & Development
- Complete all assigned training modules, certifications, and leadership development programs.
- Cross-train in all restaurant positions and operational functions.
- Demonstrate mastery of Le Botaniste systems, procedures, and leadership competencies.
- Prepare for promotion into a General Manager position through successful completion of program milestones.
Multi-Location Support
- Demonstrate flexibility by working across multiple Le Botaniste locations as business needs require.
- Support staffing shortages, peak business periods, training initiatives, and new restaurant openings.
- Adapt quickly to varying operational environments while maintaining company standards.
- Share best practices and contribute to operational consistency across locations.
- Travel between designated locations within the market as needed.
- Adjust schedules and assignments to support overall business priorities and organizational success.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in restaurant, hospitality, retail, or food service operations.
- Strong passion for hospitality, team development, and operational excellence.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Ability and willingness to travel between multiple locations within the market.
Preferred
- Experience managing teams in a restaurant environment.
- MUST HAVE NYC Food Protection Certification
- Experience with restaurant technology platforms, POS systems, scheduling, inventory, and labor management tools.
Compensation & BenefitsCompensation
- Starting Pay: $30.00 per hour
- Performance-based bonus eligibility upon promotion to General Manager.
