Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled LEAD Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience in various medical settings. This role involves providing essential support to medical staff and ensuring high-quality patient care in both inpatient and outpatient environments. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for a range of clinical and administrative tasks that contribute to the efficient operation of our facility. As a lead medical assistant, you will be in charge of ensuring that all medical assistants are following policies, protocols and procedures.
Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures
- Perform intake assessments, including obtaining vital signs and medical histories
- Administer medications as directed by physicians and monitor patient responses
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems to ensure accurate documentation
- Conduct basic life support (BLS) as needed and maintain current certification
- Support patient service initiatives by addressing inquiries and providing education on treatment plans
- Utilize medical terminology effectively for communication with healthcare teams
- Perform ICD coding for diagnoses as required for billing and insurance purposes
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas, ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in various specialties such as internal medicine, geriatrics, and emergency medicine
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar role within a clinical setting
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology is essential
- Familiarity with EHR systems and the ability to navigate them efficiently
- Experience in hospital environments, particularly Level I or Level II trauma centers is preferred
- Background in outpatient clinic operations or urgent care settings is advantageous
- Ability to perform basic life support (BLS) and maintain certification throughout employment
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on patient care and service excellence
- Ability to manage, supervise and lead others
