Job Description: Maintenance Technician
About the Role
Our client in Madison Heights, MI is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support the safe and efficient operation of their facility. This role is critical in maintaining equipment uptime, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring high-quality production of steel tubing.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime
- Support production teams to improve uptime and reduce scrap
- Maintain and organize spare parts inventory and maintenance areas
- Read and use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.)
- Assist with setup charts, procedures, and equipment adjustments
- Conduct plant safety audits and follow all safety protocols
- Train and assist other maintenance personnel as needed
- Perform welding, basic electrical work, and general mechanical repairs
- Communicate effectively with production and leadership teams
Qualifications
- Experience in industrial maintenance (mechanical & electrical)
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working at heights when required
- Strong commitment to safety and quality
Additional Requirements
- Must supply and maintain your own tools (locking toolbox required)
- Willingness to work overtime, including occasional Saturdays
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Work Environment & Safety
This role involves working around industrial equipment and requires adherence to strict safety protocols, including:
- PPE (gloves, safety glasses, hard hat, etc.)
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Working near moving equipment, cranes, and welding operations
Pay: $24.75-$34.50 a hour, Depending on experience
Shift: 1st shift
