About NationWide NEMT
NationWide NEMT is a premium long-distance medical transportation company specializing in interstate stretcher transportation for medically stable patients with complex medical, respiratory, hospice, mobility, and comfort-care needs.
Our clinicians provide one-on-one patient care during private long-distance transports in a professionally equipped medical transport vehicle. Every patient and transport is different. Each assignment is individually planned based on the patient’s medical condition, physician orders, hospice plan of care, medications, respiratory requirements, mobility needs, equipment requirements, and destination information.
We are seeking experienced Registered Respiratory Therapists, Registered Nurses, and Licensed Practical Nurses to join our growing per-diem and PRN clinical team.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one patient care during long-distance medical transports.
- Assess and monitor the patient’s condition throughout the assignment.
- Monitor and document vital signs, symptoms, treatments, medications, and changes in condition.
- Provide oxygen therapy and respiratory support within your professional scope of practice.
- Provide tracheostomy care, tracheostomy collar management, and airway suctioning when ordered and within your scope of practice.
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and professional scope of practice.
- Assist with enteral feeding, feeding pumps, PEG or G-tube care, and medication administration through feeding tubes when applicable.
- Provide compassionate hospice, palliative, and comfort-focused care during transport.
- Follow hospice plans of care, medication administration records, DNR documentation, and comfort-focused instructions.
- Monitor pain, anxiety, agitation, breathing difficulty, nausea, skin integrity, positioning, and overall comfort.
- Assist with repositioning, hygiene care, brief changes, catheter care, ostomy care, and other supportive patient needs.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in condition, including activating emergency medical services when necessary.
- Communicate professionally with hospitals, physicians, hospice agencies, nursing facilities, case managers, patients, families, and the transportation team.
- Complete accurate clinical documentation and provide a professional handoff at the destination.
- Inspect and properly operate assigned medical equipment before and during transport.
- Maintain patient safety, dignity, comfort, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Follow HIPAA requirements, company policies, physician orders, and applicable clinical standards.
Qualifications
- Active Registered Respiratory Therapist credential, Registered Nurse license, or Licensed Practical Nurse license in good standing.
- Current BLS certification required.
- ACLS preferred for Registered Nurses and Registered Respiratory Therapists.
- Experience in respiratory care, ICU, critical care, emergency care, hospice, palliative care, long-term care, rehabilitation, home health, transport medicine, or medically complex patient care preferred.
- Experience caring for oxygen-dependent patients, tracheostomy patients, tracheostomy collar patients, hospice patients, enteral feeding patients, and medically complex patients preferred.
- Ability to review and follow physician orders, hospice plans of care, medication records, DNR documentation, and facility transfer paperwork.
- Strong clinical judgment and the ability to work independently while caring for one patient during extended travel.
- Compassionate, dependable, professional, and able to communicate effectively with patients, families, facilities, and team members.
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout the continental United States by company vehicle and commercial airline when required.
- Ability to complete overnight and multi-day assignments.
- Must possess valid identification and meet commercial airline travel requirements.
- Must successfully complete credential verification, background screening, onboarding, and required company training.

Assignment Structure
This is an as-needed travel healthcare position. Assignments are offered based on patient needs, clinician qualifications, licensing requirements, scope of practice, availability, and the level of care required.
Some assignments may require the clinician to fly commercially to meet the transport team, reach the patient’s pickup location, or return home after completing a transport.
Not every assignment requires the same level of clinical care. Transports may involve oxygen support, tracheostomy collar management, suctioning, enteral feeding, medication administration, hospice care, comfort-focused monitoring, or other medically necessary services.
Clinicians may accept or decline assignments based on their availability, qualifications, licensing, scope of practice, and comfort with the patient’s clinical needs.
Our Approach
Every patient is different, and every transport is individually coordinated.
Before each assignment, NationWide NEMT reviews the patient’s medical condition, physician orders, respiratory requirements, medications, hospice or comfort-care plan, mobility needs, equipment requirements, pickup location, and destination. We then assign the qualified clinician whose license, experience, and scope of practice appropriately match the patient’s needs.

Pay: $400.00 - $700.00 per day
