Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Electrical Estimator to join our dynamic construction team.
The Assistant Electrical Estimator supports the estimating team by reviewing project documents, performing quantity takeoffs, gathering pricing, and helping prepare accurate, competitive bids for electrical construction projects. This role works closely with senior estimators, project managers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure estimates align with project scope, code requirements, and company standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to understand project scope and requirements.
- Assist with quantity takeoffs for conduit, wire, fixtures, panels, devices, and related electrical materials.
- Research material, equipment, and labor pricing using vendor quotes, subcontractor proposals, and historical cost data.
- Support the preparation of detailed cost estimates, bid summaries, and proposal documents.
- Help identify scope gaps, clarifications, exclusions, and potential cost risks before bid submission.
- Coordinate with senior estimators, project managers, and field personnel to validate assumptions and improve estimate accuracy.
- Maintain organized estimating files, cost databases, and bid records.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, job walks, and internal review meetings as needed.
- Assist with change order pricing and post-bid follow-up when requested.
- Stay current on electrical codes, construction practices, and market pricing trends.
- Assist in preparing detailed electrical cost estimates using industry-standard software such as Conest and Bluebeam.
- Review project plans, specifications, and contracts to determine scope of work and identify potential risks or cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to gather pricing information and negotiate favorable terms.
- Support the development of bid proposals by compiling accurate quantities, pricing, and labor estimates aligned with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards.
- Analyze project documents to ensure compliance with construction estimating best practices and cost control measures.
- Maintain organized records of all estimate files, correspondence, and supporting documentation for audit purposes.
- Assist in tracking project costs and budgets throughout the bidding process to support effective cost control strategies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree, trade training, or coursework in electrical technology, construction management, or a related field preferred.
- 0–3 years of experience in electrical construction, estimating, project coordination, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems, materials, methods, and applicable codes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and one-line diagrams.
- Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills with close attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with estimating or takeoff software is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Field experience as an electrician apprentice, helper, or related trade support role.
- Exposure to commercial, industrial, or institutional electrical construction projects.
- Familiarity with estimating platforms such as Conest, Bluebeam, or similar tools.
- Understanding of bid leveling, vendor comparison, and basic value-engineering concepts.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating effectively across teams and stakeholders.
