Flownamics, Inc., located in Madison, WI, is the worldwide leader in on-line sampling systems for biotech and pharmaceutical companies. We are seeking two Applications Engineers who are eager to be a part of a growing company.
This position is part of a team that assists with design and IP selection according to customer application requirements. This process includes working with internal and 3rd party stake holders to support external customers on matters related to function evaluation, documentation, application-related analysis, hardware bring-up, usage modeling, design reviews, sign-off, and authorization.

Applications Engineer Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the selection, implementation, and maintenance of custom system software
- Contribute to the installation and maintenance of purchased systems software, plus the configuration and support of hardware systems
- Engage in problem solving by performing system analysis, interpreting data and providing written recommendations to ensure that equipment is performing at optimal levels
- Visit domestic and international customer sites for equipment installation and functional verification of laboratory automation equipment
- Work with internal and 3rd party stake holders for hardware component selection, evaluation, and optimization
Applications Engineer Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering or equivalent
- 25% overnight travel required after 2 to 3 month training period
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and acceptable motor vehicle record
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Proficiency with LINUX/UNIX and one or more of the following: Shell scripting, Perl, Python
- Strong work ethic and ability to multi-task
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to quickly create a strong rapport with customers
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently
- A self-starter
Applications Engineer Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years experience working directly with customers
- Minimum of 2 years of engineering related work experience
- Experience focused on laboratory automation including managing operating systems, including configurations, internals, and maintenance processes in industrial automation equipment
