Junior Commercial Construction Estimator / Assistant Project Manager

Base salary: $55,000–$65,000 annually, based on experience
Statewide Fence Contractors is seeking a motivated Junior Commercial Construction Estimator / Assistant Project Manager to join our commercial estimating department.
This position is ideal for someone with construction experience, plan-reading ability, or estimating support experience who wants to develop into a commercial estimator and project manager. Training will be provided in commercial fencing, gates, access control infrastructure, bollards, barriers, ornamental metals, and related security construction.
Responsibilities
- Review and organize construction plans, specifications, addenda, and bid documents
- Assist with material quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
- Request and compare supplier and subcontractor pricing
- Help prepare proposals, scope letters, qualifications, and exclusions
- Maintain bid schedules, project files, and follow-up information
- Assist with submittals, purchasing, change orders, and project coordination
- Communicate with vendors, general contractors, project managers, and internal departments
- Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and project meetings when needed
- Work with senior estimators to learn commercial estimating procedures and project management
Qualifications
- One to three years of construction estimating, project coordination, purchasing, drafting, engineering, or field experience preferred
- Basic ability to read architectural, civil, structural, landscape, or site plans
- Strong mathematical, computer, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple deadlines
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar takeoff software is a plus
- Must be able to work full-time in our Garwood, New Jersey office
Experience in fencing, sitework, landscaping, concrete, ornamental metals, structural steel, electrical, access control, or another commercial construction trade is preferred but not required.
