The Streets & Drains Division provides maintenance, repair and replacement to a network of 364 miles of Local, Major, and County roads, street lighting, traffic control signs, and 500 miles of sidewalks. They investigate residential storm water issues and work to maintain efficient storm water drainage systems.
DUTIES
- Perform general labor and maintenance work.
- Operate vehicles/equipment necessary for snow removal and ice prevention/control.
- Use non-power tools including, but not limited to, shovels, rakes, wrenches, wheelbarrows, etc.
- Operate trucks, tractors, loaders, sweeper, etc.
- Operate and performs routine maintenance on light power equipment including but not limited to chain saws, lawnmowers, jackhammers, etc.
- Perform related work as required
REQUIREMENTS
- High school graduate (or GED equivalent).
- Must have at the time of application, and maintain, a valid Michigan driver license with a good driving record (based on City of Troy standards).
- Will be required to obtain, and maintain, a commercial driver license (CDL), including air brakes and (N) endorsement, and Medical Card as required by the State of Michigan within six (6) months of assignment date.
PREFERENCES
- Recent experience as a laborer or light equipment operation.
- Knowledge of the operation of mechanical and power equipment and traffic and safety rules and regulations concerning the use of this equipment.

HOURS
Monday – Friday; 6:30 am – 3:00 pm.
Overtime is required; employees are expected to work at least 50% of offered overtime.
