Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management protocols.
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety measures in line with dental x-ray safety standards.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA policies.
- Monitor vital signs and medical documentation for patients as needed, supporting comprehensive patient care.
- Perform dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile clinical environment.
- Support patient management by answering questions, scheduling appointments, and assisting with administrative tasks as a dental receptionist when required.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of dental terminology, equipment, and clinical procedures.
- Proficiency with dental software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing medical records and patient data.
- Familiarity with infection control protocols, including healthcare infection prevention and control expertise and dental sterilization procedures.
- Ability to operate dental X-ray machines safely while adhering to radiation safety guidelines; certification preferred.
- Strong understanding of anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry, including oral cavity structures and medical imaging techniques.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively assist patients of all ages, including pediatric dentistry cases.
- Knowledge of general dentistry practices such as chairside assisting, four-handed dentistry techniques, oral surgery support, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialized areas.
- Commitment to maintaining clinical confidentiality policies in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
