Hunter College invites applications for the PART-TIME position of Assistant Softball Coach. Hunter College is a member of the City University of New York Conference (CUNY) and the NCAA Division III.
This position assists the head coach and is committed to adhering to all rules and regulations of Hunter College and the athletic department. Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and executing softball practices, drills, and game strategies that promote skill development and teamwork
- Support the head coach in supervising players during practices, games, and team activities to ensure safety and engagement
- Provide coaching guidance tailored to different skill levels, encouraging sportsmanship and positive behavior
- Help monitor player progress and communicate feedback to both players and parents or guardians as appropriate
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to all safety protocols, including first aid procedures and AED operation when necessary
- Support team leadership by motivating players, managing behavior, and fostering a respectful team culture
- Assist with equipment setup, maintenance, and organization before and after practices or games
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree preferred.
· Previous coaching and/or experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required.
- Previous softball playing experience preferred.
- Experience recruiting student-athletes is a plus but not required.
- Candidate must have a Valid driver’s license and Social Security Card.
This is a part-time coaching position with a salary range of $2,000 – $7,000—anticipated appointment September 1-October 30 and January 1st through May 30th.
