Founded in 1924 by immigrant Greek families, St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church is a community that seeks to live the fullness of the Orthodox Faith and proclaim the gospel in Tacoma, WA through worship, fellowship, ministry, and embracing our Greek cultural heritage. While we honor our Hellenic roots, we welcome all individuals seeking salvation for their souls, regardless of ethnicity or background. Our community includes lifelong Orthodox Christians, as well individuals who have chosen to join the Orthodox Church. Mission Statement
The mission of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church is to proclaim and teach the gospel in accordance with the Orthodox Faith; sanctify the faithful through God's grace in worship, the Divine Liturgy, and other sacraments; enhance parishioners' spiritual life; and add to the faithful by receiving individuals into the Church through instruction, baptism, and/or chrismation.

Pay
$25.00 - $ 30.00 per hour.
Work Schedule
For full time, Sunday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with one (1) hour lunch.
For part time, Sunday, 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and Monday through Thursday, 10:00 am to 2:00 p.m. with one (1) hour lunch each day. Alternative schedules may be considered.
Some after-hours and/or weekend meetings may be required regardless of work schedule.

Incumbents are expected to be present in the church office. Hybrid arrangements may be considered at the discretion of the Parish Council.
Relocation
The church does not offer relocation assistance. Candidates must have reliable transportation to and from the Church.
Duties and Responsibilities
- General
- Oversee operational and administrative functions of the church.
- Collaborates with parish clergy, volunteers, ministry leaders, committee chairs, and parish council to maintain facilities, organize and coordinate events, and manage parish calendar.
- Primary point of contact for all non-ecclesiastical parish business matters, outside vendors, and local government agencies.
- Assist in hiring, interviewing, and training new employees and volunteers.
- Create and update standard operating procedures for parish and office management.
- Administrative
- Provide administrative support to clergy, parish council, committees, and ministries.
- Liaise with the Metropolis for filing of ecclesiastical documents.
- Greet parishioners and visitors during meetings and office hours.
- Answer telephone and direct inquiries as appropriate.
- Receive and respond to post mail and deliveries.
- Respond to email inquiries in a timely manner and forward as appropriate.
- Maintain online parish directory, mailing lists, and stewardship database.
- Develop, implement, and maintain an effective parish communication strategy, i.e. website, email, social media, bulletins, to inform parishioners.
- Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly bulletin/messenger after collecting content from various ministries and committees.
- Property and Asset Management
- Manage Request for Proposals (RFP) for outside vendors and services.
- Maintain property and equipment inventory database.
- Act as onsite representative for deliveries, contractors, and other local activities.
- Manage all phases of church hall rental and event scheduling.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as an office manager or administrator accomplishing duties and responsibility of the position listed above.
- Dependable and self-motivated. Friendly personality with strong interpersonal skills and customer service mindset.
- Ability to understand and demonstrate respect for the Greek Orthodox faith.
- Strong written and oral communication skills for effective collaboration and team communication.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Effective organizational, project management, and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to work independently without supervision.
- Professional demeanor and well-groomed appearance.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, social media platforms, financial software, and a general technology savviness.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in business management, church administration, or similar field of study; and
- Previous experience with a not-for-profit organization or in church management.

- Any combination of education, experience, and training that indicates the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position listed above.
Additional Requirements
- Upon accepting employment, the newly hired employee shall sign a non-disclosure agreement, code of conduct, and statement of faith provided by the Church.
- Successful completion of Metropolis employment requirements including Youth Safety protection training and background check upon acceptance of employment.
- St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church will need to obtain the proper background and criminal history information pursuant to RCW 43.43.830/832 for positions where the employee will or may have unsupervised access to children, developmentally delayed persons, or vulnerable adults.
- Employment is at-will and contingent upon completion and review of a background check. The Church reserves the right to terminate employment at any time, with or without cause or notice, including following review of the results of a background check, consistent with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- All newly hired employees are subject to a six (6) month probationary period beginning on their first day of employment. During this probationary period, employee performance, conduct, attendance, and overall suitability for the position will be evaluated. Successful completion of the probationary period does not alter the at-will nature of employment or create a contract or guarantee of continued employment.
- Possession of or the ability to obtain, and maintain throughout employment, a valid driver's license.
- Shall not be a stewarding member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Tacoma.
Physical Requirements
Working conditions for positions in this classification vary depending on responsibilities and assigned tasks. Work is performed primarily indoors in an office and church environment, with occasional work outdoors in and around the church campus. Incumbents communicate verbally with others, both face to face and using the telephone, in order to respond to inquiries and complaints from neighbors or parishioners and when conducting project-related administrative activities. Incumbents are required to read and interpret correspondence and meeting minutes; to sit or stand for extended periods of time with the ability to move about at will; and to review and/or check the work products of others when preparing, reviewing, checking, and interpreting correspondence and other documents. Incumbents frequently use a computer keyboard, which requires repetitive arm/hand movement, to prepare written materials, reports, email messages, Parish Council packages, and other correspondence. Incumbents communicate verbally in a group setting while conducting parish meetings, including evening and weekend meetings. During outside work, incumbents walk over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces and to work in traffic, hear and respond to alarms; observe objects or people to monitor compliance with safety standards; and work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements. Incumbents are required to discriminate among colors when preparing and/or reading maps with colors as the legend, and when reviewing computer-generated drawings; climb ladders or steps, and coordinate movement of more than one limb simultaneously when conducting field site visits. Incumbent must be able to lift 20 pounds at any time.
