Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent | Onsite
Schedule of Work: Monday- Friday 6:30am-2:30pm with relief of various shifts

Job Summary
The Steam Plant Operator plays a critical role in maintaining the safe and reliable operation of CenTrio's central steam plant.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced plant operations professional who enjoys a variety of responsibilities, including plant operations, equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and mechanical repair.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor high-pressure steam plant equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Monitor plant operations through distributed control systems and operating instrumentation.
- Start, stop, adjust, and troubleshoot boilers, pumps, valves, auxiliary equipment, and related systems.
- Respond to plant alarms, equipment issues, and changing operating conditions.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on plant equipment.
- Assist with mechanical repairs involving piping systems, valves, pumps, steam systems, and rotating equipment.
- Support outage planning and equipment maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate operating logs and maintenance documentation.
- Follow all plant operating procedures, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Work collaboratively with operations and maintenance personnel to ensure continuous plant reliability.
- Perform additional duties as assigned consistent with qualifications and collective bargaining agreements.

Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current City of Seattle Grade 3 Steam Engineer License (Unlimited)
- Experience operating high-pressure steam generation equipment
- Strong understanding of boilers, pumps, valves, steam systems, and auxiliary equipment
- Mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience
- Ability to safely operate plant equipment under varying operating conditions
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work rotating schedules, overtime, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience operating a central utility plant, district energy facility, or power generation facility
- Military experience as a Boiler Technician (BT), Machinist Mate (MM), or Engineering Laboratory Technician (ELT)
- Experience with distributed control systems (DCS) or plant control systems
- Knowledge of plant safety procedures, lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and industrial maintenance practices
Physical Requirements
This position requires work in an active industrial utility plant environment.
Employees must be able to:
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequently climb stairs, ladders, and elevated platforms
- Bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work in confined spaces
- Work in elevated temperatures and around high-pressure steam systems
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Work safely around industrial equipment and rotating machinery
Pay: $45.54 - $55.74 per hour
