Job Summary
The Accounting Clerk supports the accounting function within an oil and gas environment by handling daily financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with reporting. This role requires familiarity with industry-specific processes such as job costing, vendor billing, and field ticket reconciliation, along with proficiency in QuickBooks.
Key Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable, including vendor invoices related to field services, equipment, and materials
- Manage accounts receivable, including customer invoicing and payment tracking
- Enter and maintain financial data in QuickBooks with a high degree of accuracy
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts
- Assist with job costing and tracking expenses by project, well, or location
- Review and reconcile field tickets, purchase orders, and invoices
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems for financial records
- Communicate with vendors, customers, and internal teams regarding billing and payments
- Assist with audits and compliance documentation as needed
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting required or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
- 3-5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience (oil & gas industry experience preferred)
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (required)
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and job costing
- Experience handling high-volume transactions and vendor coordination

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (spreadsheets, basic formulas)
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
