We have an immediate opening for an experienced Automation/Controls Engineer in the Circleville, Ohio Office.
We are seeking a hands-on Automation / Controls Engineer to design, develop, and implement automated solutions within our injection molding and sub-assembly operations.
This role will focus on integrating robotic handling, conveyors, automated pack-out systems, and assembly processes, including automatic part counting, container filling, and container indexing when full.
The ideal candidate has strong PLC programming experience, familiarity with industrial robotics, and a practical understanding of high-volume manufacturing environments.
Primary Position responsibilities:
Injection Molding Automation
- - Design and implement automated pack-out systems for molding cells
- - Part counting
- - Container fill control
- - Automatic bin indexing / advancement
- - Integrate industrial robots (FANUC/Yaskawa/ABB) with downstream automation
- - Robot-to-PLC communication and EOAT coordination
Sub-Assembly Automation
- - Evaluate and implement automation opportunities in sub-assembly processes
- - Part feeding and orientation
- - Basic assembly operations (insertion, fastening, welding, etc.)
- - Develop semi-automated and fully automated work cells
- - Implement error-proofing (poka-yoke) and reduce labor dependency
Controls & Systems Development
- - Develop and maintain PLC programs (Allen-Bradley preferred)
- - Conveyor logic, sensor integration, and fault handling
- - Configure and support HMI systems
- - Select and implement sensors and instrumentation
Continuous Improvement & Support
- - Improve system performance and reduce downtime and scrap
- - Troubleshoot production equipment
- - Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams
Qualifications:
- - Degree in Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience
- - 3+ years in industrial automation or controls
- - Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and Ladder Logic
- - Experience integrating robotics with manufacturing systems
- - Familiarity with conveyors and industrial sensors
Essential skills and experience:
- Injection molding or plastics experience
- - FANUC robot experience
- - Assembly automation experience
- - HMI development experience
- - Vision systems (Cognex/Keyence)
- - Industrial networking (EtherNet/IP)
