HBC Pre-K Teacher Job Description
Objective:
The Pre-K teachers will educate, care for, and inspire the minds of their students by implementing a variety of quality teaching methods to include: artistic expression, educational play and storytelling.
Salary Range:
$26,000-$29,000

Qualifications:
Must be a growing Christ follower and an active member of a local church. Candidates must possess, or be actively enrolled in a program leading to, a CDA credential, TCC, Associate degree, Bachelor's degree, or other Georgia-approved Early Childhood Education credential in accordance with Georgia CCLC Lead Teacher requirements. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with young children in a classroom setting is required. The Pre-k teacher must have patience, compassion, and energy to successfully guide a class of young children, each of whom will have different needs, abilities, aptitudes, and emotions. Must be willing to submit to a background check.
A Lead Teacher must:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Pass the required comprehensive background check.
- Complete required orientation and health/safety training.
- Maintain current CPR and First Aid Certification
- Meet one of Georgia's approved educational credential pathways.
Acceptable Educational Credentials
Examples of qualifying credentials include:
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
- Technical Certificate of Credit (TCC) in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
- Technical College Diploma (TCD) in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
- Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.

Responsibilities:
- Educate children about fundamental concepts, such as colors, letters, numbers and shapes
- Encourage in creative methods of learning, such as arts and crafts, supervised play, and storytelling
- Plan comprehensive curriculums to address early childhood development needs
- Maintain inventory system for classroom materials and supplies
- Provide tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning and play activities
- Instill a sense of order and discipline in the classroom
- Monitor free time on the playground
- Ensure the classroom is a clean, safe and organized environment
- Prepare for lessons by gathering materials and setting up workstations
- Communicate with parents to better understand the children’s home lives and psyches
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and parents
- Track children' s progress and report to parents
- Write up reports for parents on each child’s developmental progress
