Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify their appointment details, and check in efficiently using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks
- Manage appointment scheduling and rescheduling with precision, utilizing dental clinic experience and medical office management skills
- Collect and process payments, insurance co-pays, and perform medical billing using health insurance knowledge and medical collection procedures
- Verify patient insurance coverage, process claims, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality and data security
- Maintain accurate medical records, review documentation for completeness, and update patient information in EMR/EHR systems like Athenahealth or Meditech
- Handle phone communication professionally, providing excellent patient service with proper phone etiquette and appointment reminders
- Support clinical staff by managing administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and maintaining medical records in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role within a dental or healthcare setting
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Knowledge of health insurance processes including Medicare, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical billing procedures
- Familiarity with clinical confidentiality policies and healthcare regulations like HIPAA to ensure patient privacy and data security
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone and in person
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review and office management tasks
- Prior clinic experience or dental office experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate
