Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and blood sampling using proper aseptic technique to ensure specimen quality and patient safety
- Collect, process, and label specimens accurately according to laboratory procedures and protocols
- Obtain vital signs and assess patient physiology to support clinical laboratory testing needs
- Maintain thorough documentation of procedures, patient information, and specimen details with attention to detail
- Provide compassionate patient service by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and ensuring comfort throughout collection processes
- Follow infection control standards and adhere to hospital safety policies during specimen collection and handling
Qualifications
- Proven experience in laboratory procedures, techniques, or clinical laboratory settings, preferably with hospital experience
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and aseptic techniques necessary for accurate blood sampling
- Certified or trained in phlebotomy with demonstrated venipuncture skills (blood sampling) and specimen collection expertise
- Familiarity with laboratory techniques including specimen processing and handling of biological samples
- Excellent patient care skills with a focus on providing a positive experience during blood collection procedures
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and safety standards
- Knowledge of vital signs measurement and basic anatomy concepts that support effective specimen collection
