Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in clinical procedures, patient management, and dental technology. As a Dental Assistant, you will support dentists during procedures, ensure the smooth operation of the clinic, and uphold the highest standards of infection control and patient care.
Duties
- Assist dentists during various procedures, including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment, and ensuring all materials are ready for patient appointments.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) using digital imaging systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) systems while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for clinical confidentiality.
- Provide chairside assistance by managing dental instruments, ensuring proper aseptic techniques, and supporting four-handed dentistry practices.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain infection prevention protocols through proper sterilization procedures and dental equipment processing in compliance with healthcare infection control standards.
- Support patient management by scheduling appointments, updating medical histories, and addressing patient inquiries professionally.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Proficiency in dental software such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar patient management systems.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, medical documentation, and medical records management.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and dental equipment operation.
- Experience with dental x-ray techniques and proficiency in oral surgery assistance is preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control practices including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures.
- Ability to perform dental instrument processing efficiently while adhering to safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills combined with a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Certification in Dental Assisting (such as CDA or equivalent) is highly desirable; additional training in pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics is a plus.
