We're looking for an Assistant General Manager to join our leadership team at our busy Seaport location.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves being on the floor, coaching a team, and delivering exceptional hospitality—not sitting behind a desk. At The Smoke Shop, we believe memorable guest experiences start with great leadership. As AGM, you'll work alongside the General Manager to lead the daily operation, develop the team, drive results, and create an environment where both guests and employees love coming back.
Core Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead by example on the floor, creating memorable guest experiences every day.
- Assist the General Manager in overseeing all front-of-house operations.
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop front-of-house team members.
- Build a positive, accountable, and hospitality-focused culture.
- Manage all aspects of the FOH operation, including scheduling, staffing, opening and closing procedures, cleanliness, and daily execution.
- Teach, coach, and reinforce The Smoke Shop's service standards and hospitality culture.
- Develop meaningful relationships with guests that create loyal, repeat business.
- Supervise all aspects of service, including dine-in, takeout, delivery, patio dining, catering, and private events.
- Handle guest concerns professionally and recover service opportunities with confidence and empathy.
- Ensure responsible alcohol service and compliance with all state and company policies.
- Monitor restaurant supplies, beverage inventory, and operational readiness.
- Utilize the POS system and reporting tools to support efficient daily operations.
- Partner closely with the culinary team to ensure exceptional food quality and smooth service.
- Maintain restaurant cleanliness, organization, food safety, and sanitation standards.
- Foster strong communication between the front and back of house.
- Help create an environment where team members feel supported, challenged, and proud of the work they do.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of prior restaurant service experience, including at least 1 year in a management role.
- Experience in a high-volume restaurant environment.
- Exceptional hospitality and guest service skills.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and communication abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Positive attitude with a strong sense of urgency.
- Ability to remain calm and lead effectively during busy service periods.
- Knowledge of restaurant sanitation and food safety practices.
- Passion for developing people and building strong teams.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $60,000–$70,000 annually, plus performance-based bonus opportunities.

Other Requirements
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (Spanish is a plus).
- TIPS Certification.
- ServSafe Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain).
- Ability to work successfully in a team-oriented environment.
