Role Purpose
Responsible for overall management of scheduling functions for high volume of operating rooms and/or procedural areas, collaborating with senior leadership for capacity planning and monitoring of resource utilization. Analyzes, develops and implements integrated IT systems, including Epic systems which impact all aspects of Surgical Services. Integral in staff education and support of all Epic related scheduling activities. Collaborates with WU staff to educate and support case scheduling activities.
Responsibilities
- Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
- Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
- Works with the team to develop forecasting volumes, and participates in capacity planning and resource needs. Maintains close working relationships with leadership, and collaborates with them as well as outside departments to ensure production of an efficient scheduling process.
- Maintains scheduling IS functions, reporting and technology support. Assembles project plans and teamwork assignments, directing and monitoring work efforts on a daily basis, identifying resource needs, performing quality review and escalating functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately.
- Demonstrates familiarity with Epic systems as they relate to scheduling. Includes staff training, data analysis, reporting, troubleshooting.
- Works with interdisciplinary teams and leadership to develop policies and procedures around centralized scheduling for the service and collaborates with outside groups to educate and operationalize best practices in case scheduling.
