American Traveler is seeking an experienced oncology RN for an ambulatory clinic practice nurse role requiring a minimum of 2 years of oncology experience and ONS certification.

Ambulatory oncology clinic setting within a large, Level I Trauma Center academic medical center with over 1,500 staffed beds
-
Practice nurse role focused on oncology patients before, during, and after treatments, including follow-up, pre-op, and post-op appointments
-
Duties include telephone triage, in-basket management, and assisting providers during clinic visits
-
This is not an infusion role — no chemotherapy infusion is performed at this clinic
-
Day shift schedule: 4x10-hour shifts, 7:00 AM–5:30 PM
-
No weekend requirements

Floating between specialties may be required to meet facility needs

Block scheduling is not available

Charting performed in Epic
-
Parking is available at a cost of $125/month

Active RN license (Connecticut or Compact) required; pending license accepted but must be active prior to start date

Current ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) certification required

Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience required

Ambulatory or outpatient clinic experience required

Phone/telephone triage experience required

Chemotherapy knowledge and experience required

Prior experience at a large trauma center or academic medical center required

Clean nursing license with no prior disciplinary actions

First-time travelers are not eligible for this position

Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Former permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years before being considered as a traveler

RTO of 7 days or fewer may be auto-approved; requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval

Flu vaccine is required; declinations are not accepted

COVID vaccine and booster required; religious and medical exemptions are considered

Royal blue scrubs are required

1 professional reference required for consideration

Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed by the facility
