Production Lead
Join our team as a Production Lead and play a key role in driving safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations. This hands-on leadership position combines production support, team coordination, and operational planning to ensure daily production goals are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
The Production Lead partners closely with the Production Supervisor to coordinate processing activities, support employees, improve efficiencies, and contribute to the overall success of plant operations. This position is approximately 40% administrative and 60% labor.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Production Planning
- Develop and maintain manufacturing operation plans, including program requirements, labor hours, production schedules, cycle times, and production costs.
- Coordinate daily processing activities with the Production Supervisor and provide recommendations to improve efficiency, productivity, and operational performance.
- Assist with maintaining required operating supplies to support uninterrupted production.
Team Leadership
- Lead and direct the daily work of processing and maintenance crews.
- Cross-train employees to support business needs and operational flexibility.
- Instruct employees on the safe and proper operation of equipment.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Material Handling & Production Support
- Load and unload inbound white wood trucks, finished goods trucks, and pole charges.
- Support daily production activities to ensure workflows operate safely and efficiently.
Quality, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all Company standards, including safety, environmental, quality, and operational procedures.
- Ensure adherence to applicable specifications and standards, including ANSI, ASTM, AWPA, framing prints, and Company quality requirements.
- Identify plant safety hazards and assist in accident investigations and corrective actions.
- Actively participate in and contribute to the Company safety program.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate operational records, including inbound white wood truck counts, pole charge tallies, and production data entry into company systems.
- Communicate operational requirements, challenges, and performance updates effectively, both verbally and in writing, with crew members, other departments, and leadership.
Facility Organization & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure manufacturing areas, including framing, Penta pads, incisors, finished goods storage, and related work areas, are maintained in a clean, organized manner in accordance with 5S principles and environmental BMP standards.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and operational excellence initiatives throughout the facility.
Additional Duties
- Perform other related responsibilities as assigned to support plant operations and business objectives.
