Position Summary
The Private Label Business Development Manager is responsible for driving the growth and execution of private label and contract manufacturing partnerships across domestic and international markets. This role leads customer relationships, identifies new business opportunities, and manages projects from concept through commercialization.
The ideal candidate is commercially driven, highly organized, and experienced in managing complex product development initiatives within the beauty, skincare, wellness, personal care, or consumer packaged goods industries. This individual will work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, R&D, Regulatory, Operations, Purchasing, and Manufacturing teams to ensure successful product launches and long-term customer growth.
Work Location
This position is based full-time at the Australian Gold, LLC corporate office in Indianapolis, Indiana. This is an in-office position and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangements.
Reporting Structure
This position reports directly to the Executive Director of Global Sales.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Business Development & Strategic Growth
- Manage and grow existing customer partnerships through strategic relationship management and consistent communication.
- Identify, develop, and secure new private label and contract manufacturing opportunities.
- Develop business plans and growth strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Conduct market research and monitor industry trends, competitive activity, packaging innovations, and emerging consumer insights.
- Attend industry trade shows, customer meetings, and networking events to support business growth initiatives.
Customer & Account Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for private label customers throughout the development and commercialization process.
- Build strong relationships with retailers, distributors, brand partners, and key customer stakeholders.
- Lead customer meetings, presentations, product reviews, and launch discussions regularly.
- Maintain accurate opportunity pipelines, customer records, and project updates within CRM systems.
Product Development & Commercialization
- Manage private label projects from concept to launch while ensuring timelines, quality standards, and profitability objectives are achieved.
- Coordinate with internal cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of product development initiatives.
- Oversee product submissions, sample requests, packaging development, artwork approvals, pricing requests, and launch timelines.
- Collaborate with Regulatory and Quality teams to ensure compliance with customer and market requirements.
Operational & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Purchasing, and Operations teams to support forecasting, inventory planning, and production scheduling.
- Proactively identify and resolve project risks, delays, or operational challenges.
- Assist in resolving customer concerns related to product quality, fulfillment, inventory, or timelines.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.
Reporting & Financial Responsibilities
- Assist in developing pricing strategies and margin objectives for private label programs.
- Monitor project profitability and support annual sales forecasting efforts.
- Prepare sales reports, launch recaps, business reviews, and presentations for leadership teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in business development, private label, product development, account management, or sales within beauty, skincare, wellness, personal care, or consumer packaged goods industries.
- Strong understanding of private label commercialization, packaging development, and manufacturing processes.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM platforms.
- Experience working with domestic and international customers preferred.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods of time.
- Occasional travel required for customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events.
