Responsibilities
- Assist school and library patrons with locating materials, answering questions, and providing excellent customer service to enhance their experience.
- Perform data entry tasks related to new acquisitions, inventory updates, and circulation records with accuracy and efficiency.
- Manage filing of physical documents, overdue notices, and other administrative records to ensure easy retrieval and organization.
- Assist with the setup and troubleshooting of computer equipment and software used in daily operations.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized environment by returning items and preparing materials for shelving or storage.
- Communicate effectively with patrons and team members using strong written and verbal skills to ensure a clear understanding of services offered.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a school, library, or similar customer service environment is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is essential.
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer skills, including typing and data entry.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—to assist patrons effectively and collaborate with team members.
- Knowledge of databases used in cataloging and research activities is a plus.
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while providing friendly service in a fast-paced setting.
- Basic understanding of filing systems, data collection methods, and research techniques will support success in this role.
