SUMMARY
The Assistant Warehouse Coordinator is a vital member of The Place’s Food and Senior Outreach Programs, helping ensure the efficient receipt, storage, inventory management, and distribution of food and other essential resources to the families and seniors we serve. This position plays a critical role in maintaining organized warehouse operations, supporting food safety standards, and ensuring compliance with all inventory control and storage requirements.
Working closely with the Warehouse Coordinator, the Assistant Warehouse Coordinator will adhere to established inventory management, material handling, and food distribution procedures. Responsibilities include receiving deliveries, maintaining accurate inventory records, organizing warehouse storage areas, preparing products for distribution, assisting with food pantry and outreach operations, and supporting volunteer activities as needed. The position requires attention to detail, a commitment to operational excellence, and a thorough understanding of The Place’s mission, programs, and Food Distribution Program Standard Operating Procedures.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, the ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers, and a commitment to providing exceptional service to the community while maintaining the highest standards of safety, accountability, and stewardship.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assist with the daily operations of the food warehouse, including inventory management across all storage and staging areas, stock rotation, scheduling, product pickups (such as bread donations), and deliveries.
· Support inventory control processes by accurately counting, weighing, measuring, recording, and tracking all donated, stored, and distributed products.
· Assist with the receipt, unloading, inspection, and inventory of all food pantry products arriving at The Place’s food storage facility, including the safe operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
· Maintain organized and properly stocked warehouse shelves and storage areas to ensure products are readily available for distribution.
· Work collaboratively with volunteers to fulfill and prepare pantry orders accurately and efficiently.
· Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment, ensuring compliance with food safety standards and maximizing the efficient use of available space.
· Follow established inventory management, food handling, safety, and warehouse operating procedures at all times.
· Provide support for food distribution events, mobile pantry operations, and other program activities as needed.
· Foster positive working relationships with staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners while representing The Place in a professional manner.
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Warehouse Coordinator.
SKILLS
- Basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide whole numbers), sorting, and reading skills
- Ability to learn and safely operate pallet jacks & forklifts/Forklift Certified or get certified
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to handle interruptions, maintain focus on tasks and produce accurate work
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; frequently lift, bend, stoop, and stand.
- Ability to work in varying temperature environments.
- Ability to safely drive a box truck.
- Ability to pass DOT physical (to be paid for by The Place).
- Must provide a GA DDS certified 7-year Motor Vehicle Record
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
