The science teacher must be able to communicate effectively through a relational approach, encouraging students to take risks in learning and to demonstrate learning in innovative ways. The science teacher is a part of the secondary faculty and reports to the secondary principal. All members of the faculty are expected to contribute to chapel, other spiritual development activities, and other duties as assigned.
Major responsibilities:
- Prepare appropriate weekly lesson plans including instructional objectives, learning activities and assessments integrated with Biblical foundations
- Utilize appropriate educational technology
- Create and evaluate appropriate instructional and assessment methods
- Maintain appropriate pacing in accordance with the curriculum guide
- Maintain a collaborative relationship with all members of the faculty
- Demonstrate the maturity to inspire student learning and understanding of the age group
- Maintain a positive classroom environment, conducive to learning, yet open to questioning and participation
- Effectively communicate and partner with parents in the educational and spiritual development of students
- Support school initiatives and show support for student interests outside of the school day
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in science education or a related content area
- Possess or be working toward a Professional Teaching Certificate from the Alabama Department of Education
- Exhibit a strong faith and exemplary lifestyle.

- Must be able to establish and maintain effective professional relationships
- Have experience using classroom technology, electronic resources, programs, and platforms
- Ability to accept direction and professional development
- Ability to exercise good judgment
