A tobacco processing facility in Nashville, North Carolina is seeking to fill the year-round, hourly position of Human Resources Generalist. The employee in this position assists in human resource functions for hourly employees.In addition to requirements below, the successful candidate for this position would be described as self-motivated, perceptive, and attentive to detail.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma, or equivalent combination in training and experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in staffing and employee relations functions
- Knowledge of Payroll/Timekeeping systems preferred
- Shows high level of commitment to developing excellence in technical and/or business skills
- PC experience, including Microsoft applications; ADP experience preferred
- Effective analytical, planning and organizational skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Must handle confidential information in a professional manner
- Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Adapt to frequent changes in climate, environment, workload and schedules
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Administer and enforce company policies and procedures
- Support employment and recruitment activities, including planning, interviewing, testing, staffing, and labor coordination
- Develop and maintain job descriptions and evaluation of positions
- Manage benefit programs, including billing reconciliation and COBRA administration
- Assist in the development and coordination of training and development opportunities for performance and productivity enhancement
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, including FLSA, OFCCP, FMLA, ADA
- Provide support to employees, supervisors, and managers in employee relations
- Partner with members of management to accomplish objectives
- Promote goodwill in the community through service and partnership with community programs
