Signet Maritime has an immediate opening for a motivated and organized Senior Accounting Manager to join our team. The Senior Accounting Manager will be a detail-oriented, self-motivated, and organized accounting professional. He or she will be experienced in hands-on accounting related tasks. The individual will have the ability to function efficiently and professionally in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, and proactive.
Detail of Role
The Senior Accounting Manager role is a 100% on-site position in the Pascagoula, MS office, with 2 direct reports. The Senior Accounting Manager reports directly to the Director of Accounting in Houston, TX, with a dotted line/working closely relationship with on-site division leadership.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages the day-today accounting operations and supervises 2 direct reports.
- Month end close, adherence to GAAP.
- Prepare and ensure accuracy of billings and invoices.
- Respond to customer inquiries concerning accounts payable invoices.
- Enter all payables, request approvals and prepare for payment.
- Special projects and other duties assigned.
- Completes barge reports, review boat logs to complete job orders.
- Participating in customer and business development meetings.
- Assist with credit card reconciliation.
- Ensure strong working relationships with both shipyard management and finance personnel.
- Cost accounting experience in a project environment.
- Good understanding of WIP
- Advanced or Expert/Power Excel User
- Set up systems and processes for the costing function; cost development, budget variances, cost center budgeting.
- Prepare and provide analysis of cost variance, percent complete, progressive billing Assist with managing physical inventory counts.
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from a highly accredited university;
o Minimum GPA of 3.0.
o Individuals without a Bachelor’s degree will not be considered.
o Master’s degree and/CPA a plus.
- Microsoft Office Knowledge Required (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong Excel Skills Required
- Previous Accounting and QuickBooks experience required.
- Background in maritime industry is preferred but not required.
