The Maintenance Supervisor is a key leadership position responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment, facilities, and infrastructure in a 24-hour manufacturing environment. This role leads maintenance personnel, drives equipment reliability initiatives, oversees preventative and predictive maintenance programs, and supports continuous improvement efforts focused on reducing downtime, improving safety, and increasing operational performance.
The Maintenance Supervisor partners closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and EH&S teams to support world-class manufacturing operations while ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. This position plays a critical role in achieving plant objectives related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development.
Work Environment
This position operates in both an office and manufacturing environment. The Maintenance Supervisor regularly works on the production floor supporting equipment, facilities, and maintenance activities, while also performing administrative, planning, scheduling, reporting, and employee management responsibilities in an office setting.
The role may involve exposure to heat, noise, dust, vibration, moving machinery, electrical systems, chemicals, and industrial equipment. Regular interaction with production, engineering, contractors, and leadership teams is required. The position may require occasional off-shift, weekend, and after-hours support to address equipment breakdowns and operational needs.
Direct and coordinate maintenance activities for plant equipment, production systems, building infrastructure, and grounds.
Lead troubleshooting and repair efforts involving electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, robotic, and automation systems.
Support and coordinate equipment installations, relocations, rebuilds, upgrades, and capital improvement projects.
Collaborate with Engineering and machine builders on new equipment, rebuilt equipment, and process improvement initiatives, including design reviews and recommendations.
Oversee maintenance and operation of electrical switchgear, power distribution systems, boilers, air compressors, HVAC systems, cooling towers, sprinkler/fire protection systems, and other facility infrastructure.
Monitor maintenance performance through key metrics including equipment uptime, downtime, MTTR, MTTF, PM completion rates, OEE, and maintenance costs.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, reliability, and cost reduction.
Lead facility audits and support OSHA, OEPA, environmental, fire protection, insurance, and regulatory inspections.
Partner with the EH&S team to ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, contractor safety requirements, and Tenneco standards.
Utilize CMMS and other maintenance management systems to plan, schedule, track, and document maintenance activities.
Education and Experience:
Associate degree, Technical Degree, or equivalent vocational training in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience with mechanical power presses, press control systems, lubrication systems, and press safety devices.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, technical manuals, and engineering drawings.
Knowledge of OSHA, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, confined space entry, hot work permits, boiler operations, fire protection systems, and contractor safety compliance requirements.
Ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, contractors, suppliers, and customers.
Ability to stand, sit, bend, climb stairs, reach, and work around industrial machinery.
Visual ability to inspect equipment, identify deficiencies, review technical documents, and work with computer applications.
