Polaris Windows & Doors is seeking candidates for a Safety Coordinator. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs across manufacturing operations to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, reduce workplace injuries, and promote a proactive safety culture. This role partners closely with plant leadership, production teams, maintenance, human resources, and employees to identify hazards, implement corrective actions, manage workers’ compensation and return-to-work processes, and support operational excellence initiatives including Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies.
Job Responsibilities
The position will be responsible for essential job duties including, but not limited to:
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain written safety programs, policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures in compliance with OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and company requirements.
- Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations to identify hazards and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with regulations related to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Hazard Communication, Powered Industrial Trucks, Machine Guarding, PPE, Electrical Safety, Bloodborne Pathogens, Emergency Action Plans, and other applicable standards.
- Coordinate and maintain OSHA recordkeeping including incident reporting and injury trend analysis.
- Serve as a primary contact during OSHA inspections, insurance audits, and workers’ compensation investigations.
- Be the point person for the manufacturing Security Cameras, Locks, and Keys.
Injury Management & Return-to-Work
- Coordinate workers’ compensation claims management and communicate with the Corporate Safety Director, Management, and employees regarding injury status and restrictions.
- Develop and administer transitional duty and return-to-work programs to support employee recovery and reduce lost time.
- Perform job function analyses and ergonomic evaluations to determine physical demands and identify opportunities for injury reduction.
Training & Safety Culture
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for new hires, annual refresher training, leadership development, and task-specific compliance training.
- Facilitate employee engagement initiatives including awareness and behavioral safety observations.
- Promote a positive safety culture focused on accountability, hazard recognition, employee involvement, and continuous improvement.
Emergency Preparedness
- Coordinate emergency response planning, evacuation procedures, severe weather preparedness, and medical response protocols.
- Conduct emergency drills and maintain emergency equipment including AEDs, first aid supplies, eyewash stations, and fire extinguishers.
- Interface with local emergency responders, vendors, and contractors regard site safety requirements.
Requirements
- Experience in manufacturing safety, occupational health, environmental health and safety, or related operational leadership role
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, workers’ compensation processes, and manufacturing safety practices
- Experience conducting investigations, developing training materials, and implementing corrective actions
- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and PowerPoint
