Bark ‘N’ Town is looking for an organized outgoing person to join our team as an Assistant Manager / Customer Service Specialist. You will be responsible for supervising our Pet Care Specialists and overseeing the shift. You also will be working directly with our customers and their pets at the front desk; answering phones, checking in / out guests, and more.
This is a part time position scheduled between 25-35 hours a week. To succeed in this position, team work and a hands-on attitude are a must. Past customer service or sales experience is preferred but a love for animals and 3 years general work experience is a must!
Our ideal candidate is passionate about pet care and knows- or is willing to learn- pet behavior. In this fast-paced position the ability to prioritize and switch between multiple tasks, problem solve, and communicate clearly are critical. While the majority of your duties are more office based, approximately 25% of your day is directly interacting with pets of all shapes and sizes.
Responsibilities and Duties
Some of the responsibilities you will have in this position:
- Greeting our clients in a warm and friendly manner; you are the first impression of our company
- Checking in and out pet guests
- Answering phones and providing a warm and inviting experience
- Working with Clients to book customized stays that reflect their pets’ unique personality and lifestyle
- Providing facility tours
- Guiding clients through and promoting our unique services
- Overseeing the Pet Care Specialists and assisting in daily pet activities as needed
- Assist in feeding and administration of medications
- Assisting in general housekeeping procedures
- And other duties as assigned
Skills Used on the Job
Some of the skills you should have to be successful are:
- Basic computer skills
- The ability to control the movements of pets of all sizes; from 2 to 200 lbs
- The ability to set priorities and juggle multiple tasks
- Active listening and clear concise communication skills
- Critical thinking and the ability to problem solve
In general, you have a set schedule of 2 morning shifts and 2 afternoon shifts Monday – Friday and 1 weekend day. Schedules do vary based upon time of year, time off requests, and holiday weeks. Holiday hours are shared between all Assistant Managers regardless of normal day off.
Monday thru Friday:
Morning shifts start at 7:15 am and end between 12:30 – 2:00 pm
Afternoon shifts start between 1:30 - 3:30 pm and go until 7:30 pm or done which can be as late as 8:30 – 9:00 pm (based upon time of year)
Saturday or Sunday:
Morning shifts start at 7:15 am and end between 12:30 – 2:00 pm
Afternoon shifts start between 4:00 - 5:30 pm and go until 7:30 pm or done which can be as late as 8:30 – 9:00 pm (based upon time of year)
